Large Hailstones and Widespread Destruction

Residents witnessed large ice chunks measuring up to seven centimeters in certain regions. The Bureau of Meteorology verified that various areas across Queensland had been impacted by significant hail.

Emergency crews were working to restore energy supply throughout the damaged zones, with nearly 70 crews deployed to manage the numerous electricity disruptions.

Meanwhile, nearly one thousand households in Victoria also encountered energy failures after Melbourne experienced its wettest day in over 500 days.

Emergency response teams responded to over five hundred requests for assistance across the area, mostly for property damage but also for collapsed vegetation and flooding.

• Hoppers Crossing area - numerous emergency calls
• Wyndham - nearly 180 calls for assistance

During the peak on the previous day, more than 28,000 energy customers in the state were experiencing outages.

Climate Outlook

Humid circumstances were predicted to continue along large portions of Queensland's east this week as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the shoreline.

Tomorrow was expected to become the wettest day, with persistent severe weather risk anticipated across different parts of both areas.

Safety Concern

Health officials alerted that there was an increased chance of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the state's northern country region, particularly given the existing atmospheric conditions.
